Connect · Learn · Grow

Grow with the right people.

Knowing what to do next is easier when someone has already done it. iMentorLink matches South African students, graduates and small businesses with verified mentors, on what you are studying, where you are, and what you are working towards.

Every mentor is verified by a person. Free for students and graduates.

How it works

Four steps, and none of them are a form you dread

You do not need to know exactly what you want. Say it in your own words and we work backwards from there.

1

Tell us where you are

Your field, your stage, and what you are working towards. Paste a CV and we will fill most of it in for you to check.

ProgrammeBSc Computer Science and Informatics
StageFinal year, University of Johannesburg

2

Describe what you need

In plain words. “I am finishing a BSc and want to get into cloud” is enough. So is “we install solar and need someone to train six technicians”.

See who actually fits

Real mentors with a reason attached to each one. If nobody genuinely fits, we say so instead of padding the list.

Start the conversation

Send a short message, meet, set goals, and track them. Stuck on the first message? We will draft one you can edit.

Hi Priya. I am finishing BSc Computer Science and Informatics at UJ and hoping to move into data. Could I ask you two questions?
Of course. Ask away.
Did you do honours first, or go straight into work?
Straight into work, then honours part-time. Happy to talk through both, they suit different people.
That would help a lot. Thank you.

Your development journey starts here.

Who it is for

Three ways in

Students and graduates

Free, and always will be.

  • Find a mentor in your field
  • Bursaries, learnerships and graduate roles
  • Set goals and see them move
  • CV and interview preparation
  • Join circles with people doing the same thing

Mentors

Give the time you have, not the time you do not.

  • Say how many people you can take
  • Get matched on what you actually know
  • Accept or decline, both are fine
  • Sessions and attendance in one place
  • Verified badge once your documents check out

Institutions and SMEs

For universities, TVETs, SETAs and small businesses.

  • Describe what your team needs to learn
  • Run programmes and track participants
  • Import your opportunities in bulk
  • Message a whole cohort at once
  • See what is actually happening
Mentor discovery

People who can help you move forward

This is what a result looks like: a field, a reason, and a badge that a person put there. These six are examples, not real mentors. Sign in to see who is actually available to you.

Meet Mentor

Mentor is our AI assistant. It can only point at people who are really here

Mentor is the name of the AI assistant built into iMentorLink — not one of the human mentors. It helps you work out what to do next and who to talk to, and it is built so it cannot invent a mentor, a bursary or a qualification, because the platform picks what it is allowed to mention before it ever answers.

Mentor iMentorLink’s AI assistant AI

What should I do before applying for bursaries?

AI suggestion Get your documents together first: ID, latest results, and proof of income for whoever supports you. Most applications close before people finish gathering these. Bursary readiness checklist — from Resources
AI suggestion Ask a mentor in your field to read your motivation letter once before you send it. Three mentors in your field are open to messages — from Mentors

How early should I start?

AI suggestion Most bursaries for the following year close between August and September, so June is not too early. Two of the ones on your list close sooner than that. Closing dates — from Opportunities

Can you tell me which of these mentors is verified?

AI suggestion No — I am not told who is verified, so I cannot tell you. The green badge on a profile is put there by a person at iMentorLink who has read that mentor’s documents. Trust the badge, not me.

It cannot make people up

Every person or opportunity it names is checked back against our own records before you see it. Anything it invents is dropped.

It never says who is verified

Verification is a person reading documents. Mentor is not told who is verified, so it cannot tell you either. The badge comes from us.

It is yours to switch off

Turn AI help off in your settings and everything still works, matched on your profile instead. Nothing about you leaves the country.

After the introduction

More than finding a mentor

Set goals, break them into milestones, and watch them move. Sessions, resources and attendance sit in one place, so both of you can see what is actually happening between conversations.

Built for young people, which changes how you build

Much of this platform is used by people finishing school. That is a responsibility, and these are the things we do about it rather than say about it.

A person checks every mentor

Qualifications and identity documents are read by an administrator. No software decides who is verified, and no mentor appears in search until they are.

Under 18 needs a parent or guardian

If you are under 18 we ask for a parent or guardian to confirm by email. Until they do, your account cannot be found in search and cannot message anyone.

Your information stays yours

Download everything we hold in one click, or ask us to delete it. Two-factor sign in, and a record of every security change on your account.

We will never ask for your ID number, banking details or a fee. No genuine bursary or job on iMentorLink asks you to pay to apply. If something here does, report it and tell us at info@imentorlink.co.za.

Your next step doesn’t have to be taken alone.

Find someone who has already walked the path you’re starting.

Let us talk

Partnering as a university, TVET, SETA or employer? Want to mentor? Something to report? One address, and a person reads it.
